Topical Conference: October 24-27, 2011

Conference Flyer

Role of Petrophysics in Improving Production Efficiency

Kuwait 1stSPWLA Topical Conference title is Role of Petrophysics in Improving Production Efficiency. During the three day conference, regional and international experts will share their expertise, case studies and recommended practices for improving production based on better understanding of petrophysical properties, from core to field scale.

The Technical Committee is seeking abstract submissions on five topics:

  • EOR (Enhance Oil Recovery)

Enhanced Oil recovery is the ultimate recoverable mechanism in oil fields, extending further the life of reservoir exploitations and access to additional reserves. Subtopics can be: saturation monitoring, residual saturation quantification for logs, SCAL, fluid experiments and other related topics.

  • High Pressure High Temperature Sour Gas (HPHT-SG)

Sour gas associated with reservoir fluids causes significant challenges to exploit hydrocarbons. Subtopics can be: Downhole Fluid characterization, field cases of formation evaluation in HPHT environments (challenges, technology) and other related topics.

  • New Frontiers in Core Analysis

Several challenges like upscaling formation properties measured on cores, characterize fractured reservoirs or better represent downhole conditions remain. Subtopics can be: Digital rock physics, routine core analysis, SCAL applications and other related topics.

  • Heavy Oil

Properties of heavy oil (e.g High viscosity) significantly alter the ability to exploit these reservoirs conventionally. Subtopics can be: heavy oil quantification from logs, advanced in downhole fluid characterization, production logging another related topics.

  • Tarmat and Asphaltene Characterization

Tarmat and asphaltene create challenges to characterize and produce reservoir hydrocarbons. Focus is mainly on new techniques to characterize tar mat and asphaltene, and how they are used to enhance the oil recovery in oil reservoirs. Subtopics can be: tar mat quantification from logs, downhole fluid identification and other related topics.

The final agenda will vary with submissions received.
