Our Journey

The local SPWLA (The Society of Petrophysicists and Well Log Analysts )
chapter named as "The Formation Evaluation Society of Kuwait (FESK)" was
initially perceived in Oct 2007, and got approval in Feb 2008 from the SPWLA
main board. Since then the chapter has been holding regular monthly technical
presentations related to the field of Petroleum Geoscience inviting subject
experts from various companies solely for technical knowledge sharing and totally
away from any form of commercialization.

A minimum of Eight (8) Technical meetings are conducted in a Year. It is noteworthy
that, this chapter year (2012-2013) seeing the growing Interest we have
conducted a total of 11 technical presentations. Today, we have over 300 members
in the local chapter.

Our Chapter is recognized as one of the "Most Active Chapters" in the region
in spite of being relatively new. Adding feather to the success, with the kind
encouragement and support of various Oil & Gas and Service companies we
organized our 1st Topical Conference during October 2011 and it was grand
success with global delegate participation. The theme of the conference was
"Role of Petrophysics in improving Production Efficiency".

Seeing the success and technical benefit of the first Topical Conference we are
now encouraged to host the 2nd Topical Conference (28th – 31st, October 2013)
with a theme "From Placement to Monitoring of Horizontal Wells". We believe
that this conference will give all of us a platform to enhance our knowledge and
expertise through technology transfer apart from building a network of subject
experts.

The chapter has a fully functional website (www.spwla-kuwait.org or www.
spwla-kuwait.com) updating all activities as well as it has a Technical Library
Section with several technical publications and presentations.
